Letter from the President

Communications and marketing departments are more connected now than ever before. In practice, the line between them continues to blur—but that doesn’t always mean we’re learning from each other as often as we could.
That kind of perspective doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from intentionally seeking out new voices, new ideas, and new ways of thinking about our work.
That’s what makes our upcoming joint PRSA Iowa and AMA Iowa event such a great opportunity. Whether you’re looking to expand your network or simply reconnect with peers in a more relaxed setting, this is an easy way to step outside your usual circles and build new connections.
Looking ahead, I’d also encourage you to mark your calendar for OctoPRfest on October 1 at Sammons Financial Group in West Des Moines. As PRSA Iowa’s signature event, it brings together communicators of all types for a full day of learning, insight and connection.
Growth in our profession doesn’t happen by accident—it happens when we choose to show up, engage, and expand our perspective.
I hope to see you at our joint event with AMA Iowa—and again this fall at OctoPRfest.
Cheers,
Phillip Nicolino, APR
President
PRSA Iowa Board of Directors
